Dear friends,

She's trying to save her home from a giant digger. But can't.

And now the bulldozers are in a tiny speck of rainforest where earth's last 800 Tapanuli Orangutans cling to life.

It's all to build a hydropower dam that could easily push them to extinction.

But Indonesia's President can still cancel the dam, and he wants to be seen as the people's president. So if we build a massive campaign and get huge media coverage -- he could do it! Wildlife experts are meeting him in days and will deliver our call -- so add your name before the diggers do more damage!

Save the Last Tapanuli Orangutans -- Sign Now!

To Indonesian President, Joko Widodo:
"As citizens from across the world, we urge you to save the last 800 Tapanuli Orangutans from extinction by cancelling the Batang Toru hydropower dam. The fate of this entire species rests in your hands."

Save the Last Tapanuli Orangutans -- Sign Now!

The Tapanuli Orangutans were only discovered months ago, and with fewer than 800 left, they instantly became the world's most endangered great ape species. Their only home is one shrinking patch of rainforest in Indonesia -- and this hydropower dam would be built right in the middle of where they live! No wonder major development banks won't touch it.

Orangutans are basically family -- we share 97% of our DNA. They laugh at jokes, cry real tears, and can clearly tell what it means when a massive digger arrives. We can't leave them to face that alone and be wiped out forever. So we have to stop this -- together!

Let's build a giant campaign to make them famous, help journalists expose the destruction, and take out media ads to push Indonesia's President to scrap the dam and save these desperate orangutans. Sign now and tell everyone!

Save the Last Tapanuli Orangutans -- Sign Now!

Scientists say we're living through the sixth mass extinction, and it's mostly caused by humans. But at the same time, we've never been more able to respond to the crisis, and there's no other global movement on earth that can do it quick enough, loud enough. So let's save them!

With hope and determination,

Mike, Lisa, Sarah, Spyro, and the whole team at Avaaz

Dear friends,

Recent heatwaves and wildfires are a shocking taste of our future if climate change spins out of control. Yet a massive, dirty coal-fired power station is about to built on Kenya's coastline near a stunning world heritage site. Unless we stop it.

Locals are battling in the courts to protect their precious mangrove forests and fishing grounds, and studies show that the coal power would be crazily expensive. But it's not enough -- global megacorporation General Electric is about to bail out the project with hundreds of millions of dollars.

The decision is imminent, and investors are up in arms. If enough of us make this personal to GE's new Boston-based boss, John Flannery, we could stop him signing.
When this is massive, we'll take out an ad in a big Boston paper and on a billboard close to Flannery's golf club. Sign now to stop the climate-killing Lamu coal plant.

Click to stop General Electric from poisoning paradise

General Electric is a mega corporation and its power plants generate one-third of the world's electricity -- Kenyan activists have been battling in the courts to stop this controversial coal plant being built on the historic Lamu archipelago, but they need a groundswell of international support to take on this corporate giant!

Lamu is known for its traditional settlements, mangrove forests, and fishing communities. It's so precious not even cars are allowed on the island! Supporters argue the coal plant will create new jobs, but residents say it will damage their tourism and fishing industries, as well as their unique culture.

CEO John Flannery could be the man that stops it. He's new to GE and already dealing with plummeting stocks, and an investor rebellion on the Lamu plan. His company has backed the Paris climate accord, and he's looking for a new direction. Sign now and tell him to back out of this crazy plan, and invest in renewables instead of dirty coal!

Our efforts to fight climate change and dirty coal are part of a vision to protect our planet, marine life, and its inhabitants across the world. We've fought for a strong Climate Change deal in Paris and we are now proud to come together and protect all parts of our beautiful world. Let's stand side by side and continue to fight for a clean future for all.

Dear friends,

In a few days, India will delete as many as 7 million Muslims in Assam State from its master list of "citizens" because they speak the wrong language and worship the wrong God.

Husbands, wives, and children could be torn apart and left to rot in prison camps.

This is how genocides begin
- how the nightmare of the Rohingya began. But it's all unfolding quietly -- if we raise a massive alarm calling for the UN Secretary-General and key governments to intervene - we can stop this horror before it starts:

Raise the Alarm

The Assam government has already begun quietly building another new prison camp and deploying troops.

Like the Burmese regime that attacked the Rohingya, the government claims they're acting against illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. But the vast majority of the people targeted are just poor, illiterate Muslim citizens without "proper" documentation. They've never needed it before!

António Guterres, the Secretary General of the UN, has pledged to fight on behalf of those who can't: "I will raise my voice. I will take action. I will use my rights to stand up for your rights." We need to hold him to those words because right now the Bengali Muslims in India have no one to speak for them on the global stage -- except us. Sign the petition below and together we can stop a road to genocide in Assam

Raise the Alarm

The rise of virulent Hindu nationalism in India is behind this aggressive move to render millions of Muslims stateless and vulnerable. History teaches us that these movements know no limits except the ones citizens set for them. Let's draw a line in Assam, and send a message to governments everywhere - we're watching.

With hope and determination,

Emma, Nate, Ricken, Antonia, Flora, Alice, Wissam, Danny and the entire Avaaz team
