Dear friends,

THIS is an emergency!

The Amazon is going up in smoke and could soon reach a point of no return, with large parts turning into dry savannah. The lungs of the world might be gone... forever.

But this isn't the only crisis we face. Greenland is melting at an unprecedented rate, and Central Africa is up in flames. Climate change is here and yet our governments aren't feeling enough heat to stop burning coal and gas at unimaginable rates.

But in days, right ahead of a crucial UN climate summit, millions of children are taking to the streets across the world. And this time, they're calling on all of us to join them. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters... EVERYONE is invited to help raise their voices, so that they're finally heard by those in power.

We owe it to these brave kids to do everything we can to provide them with a sustainable future. Click below to stand in solidarity with the climate strikers and demand a 100% clean energy future:

The climate strikes were started by one brave student named Greta Thurnberg who walked out of school every Friday to protest the lack of climate action. Soon thousands of students all over the world followed her. Now the youth are urging the "adults in charge" to protect their future and calling on everyone to join in: we absolutely can't turn our backs on them!

This month's UN summit is a key moment. As part of the Paris Agreement, countries need to announce their climate plans next year. But that means they need to finalize their plans now! So this summit is our chance to show leaders that we are holding their feet to the fire and are expecting nothing less than emergency plans to get us to a 100% clean world as fast as possible.

Many of us marched in 2014 before the Paris summit, and that massive global outcry helped nudge governments to agree to the Paris deal. We know this worked before -- so let's do it again and make sure our governments act. Click to join in solidarity:

The stories are terrifying -- fires, droughts, heat deaths. It's hard not to feel overwhelmed by the gravity of this crisis. But we know what needs to be done to stop it -- the science is clear, and our governments know what they need to do. Now it's up to us to make sure they follow. So join the strike on September 20 -- let's make this the biggest climate mobilization yet!

With hope,

Christoph, Pascal, Andy, Muriel, Francesco and the entire team at Avaaz
