Set Noura Free!

She was held down and raped by the man she was forced to marry. And when he came for more, she fought back and killed him -- now Noura's been sentenced to death in Sudan. She's 19. A presidential pardon can save her, and one phone call from Mike Pompeo, head of the US State Department, can make it happen. Let's make sure he picks up the phone -- sign now and pass this on!

Dear friends,

Noura didn't want to be married at 15.

So she ran away -- and when she was tricked into coming home, her "husband" raped her while relatives held her down. And when he came for more, holding a knife, she fought back and killed him.

Now Noura's been sentenced to death in Sudan.

But as global attention soars, the President is feeling the heat -- and if we get Sudan's biggest aid donor, the United States, to push for a pardon, Noura could walk free. It's worked before, when a human rights activist was freed last year -- now we can make it happen again!

Noura's a survivor, not a criminal; she should be praised for resisting, not hanged for defending herself. Let's set her free -- sign now and pass this on!

In Sudan girls from 10 years old can be forced into marriage, and marital rape is still legal. That's why Noura's case is so critical: it's focussed a global spotlight on these brutal laws and created an opportunity for legal reforms that could protect thousands of little Noura's in future.

Our movement has stood up for women's rights around the world -- and this is a moment for the whole world to stand behind one girl. A chance to fight for the belief that girls should be allowed to be girls -- not forced into being wives and hanged if they defend themselves. Noura needs justice -- let's make sure she gets it!

The first step is getting Noura out -- and Head of the US State Department, Mike Pompeo, can make that happen. America is Sudan's biggest donor and he can directly push Sudan's President to annul the conviction and start legal reforms. Just one phone call could be enough. Let's make sure he picks up the phone -- sign now and pass this on!

Noura's already thinking of the future and how she'll help other girls if she gets out. She's a symbol of a new world where courageous women are rising like never before, and it's a world our movement and countless others are longing for. Now let's lift her up and set her free!

With hope and determination,

Fatima, Mike, Sarah, Rewan, and the whole team at Avaaz
