Assad's regime used bombs and chemical weapons against us, killing half a million people. Countless families were forced to flee, leaving everything behind. Over a decade of conflict has claimed the lives of at least 30,000 children across Syria. An additional seven million are now in urgent need of emergency aid, including medical care, food, clean drinking water, and safe shelter to endure the coming winter. The humanitarian needs today have never been greater. Nearly 70% of the population requires aid, and our refugee crisis is the largest in the world. Local groups urgently need funding to expand their reach, and they've come to Avaaz because they know our community can mobilise funds at lightning speed. Even though I marked on the referral today that I did not contact the parent about the referral, I am on the phone with him now and he is requesting a conference with guidance counselor, dean, administration, school psychologist etc. re: her 504 plan and what we can do for her. He wants to be included in this meeting. He said he would like to see her get counseling or therapy if possible.

He discussed with me the bullying that has happened to her in the past when she was in Kindergarten in Miami which has affected some of her emotional development. He wants to have a meeting to discuss how we can best help her now.
